Orlando ranks last in walkability, says study of 30 metros

Ever since the last half of the 20th century, when residential housing began being built around cars and not feet, Americans' weight has been rising, along with their related health problems, said Rich Hamburg, an executive at Trust for America's Health, which sponsors the nation's "F as in Fat" report.

Studies have found that whether a community has sidewalks, bike lanes, parks and streetlights can significantly affect the weight of its residents, Hamburg said.
