Conway warns kids: Today, 3 people will OD

Earlier in the day, Conway met with the judges-executive from Northern Kentucky counties and then met with the leadership team of the Heroin Impact Response Work Group.

According to statistics compiled by the nonprofit Trust for America’s Health, prescription painkiller abuse is the leading cause of accidental death in the country, and Kentucky has the nation’s third-highest rate of fatal overdoses. Last year, nearly 1,000 Kentuckians died from overdoses, Conway said – averaging 82 a month.
