Fresno County awarded $500K in health grants

The Fresno County Department of Public Health has been awarded close to half a million dollars in Community Transformation Grants (CTG) as part of the Obama administration’s health care reform legislation, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced today.

Fresno County will receive $499,695 in grant funding to fight chronic disease with funding to last for five years. While no blueprints are yet in place, the County hopes to have a plan ready in the next 12 to 15 months that will lead to reduced tobacco consumption, encourage better nutrition and physical activity and help medical patients control things like hypertension and high cholesterol.
