A U.S. Senate panel on Tuesday heard testimony from public health officials and experts on how to more effectively counter a potential bioterrorism event or influenza outbreak, marking one step to extend a statute for bolstering U.S. public health emergency response capabilities, the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy reported (see GSN, July 20, 2006).
