Florida is 39th fattest state

Florida still fares pretty well on rates of adult obesity, but its children are a different story. Florida ranked 39th in a nationwide study of adult obesity, about the same as last year.
In the study, “F as in Fat: How Obesity Policies Are Failing in America 2009” compiled by the Trust for America’s Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, 24.1 percent of Florida’s adult population fell into the obese range.
The numbers were worse for Florida children, 33 percent of whom are obese or overweight, ranking Florida 17th.
Southern states reported the highest obesity rates in the study. Eight of the top 10 were in the South.
