Alabama improves in being prepared for health disaster

State and local governments in Alabama have shown improvement in the last two years in being prepared to deal with a major health emergency, such as an anthrax attack or a pandemic influenza outbreak, according to a national report released Tuesday. The report titled "Ready or Not" by the nonprofit organization Trust for America's Health rated the states in 10 categories of preparedness, including the stockpiling of vaccine and the ability to test for biological threats. Alabama received a positive mark in nine of the 10 categories, compared to two years ago when the state was marked deficient in all but two of 10 categories in the annual survey.
