State and local governments in Alabama have shown improvement in the last two years in being prepared to deal with a major health emergency, such as an anthrax attack or a pandemic influenza outbreak, according to a national report released Tuesday.

Alabama received a positive mark in nine of the 10 categories, compared to two years ago when the state was marked deficient in all but two of 10 categories in the annual survey.
