Holiday Sweets a reminder of growing obesity problem

As the holiday season approaches and tables are filled with everything sweet, some public officials continue to be concerned about obesity rates. All those cakes, cookies and candies are only contributing to an ever-expanding national waistline. The states of Maine and New Hampshire fall slightly below the national average for adult obesity with rates of 23- and 22.4-percent respectively, according to a study released earlier this year by Trust for America's Health, a Washington-based research group.
