Waists Widen in South

Nine of the 10 states with the highest obesity rates in a new study are in the South. Mississippi continues to lead the way, with an estimated 30 percent of adults considered obese. It is followed by Alabama, West Virginia, Louisiana and Kentucky, according to the Trust for America’s Health, a nonprofit health research group in Washington that analyzed survey data collected for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
