FAMU Program at Full Speed

..."There are no schools of public health at historically black schools in the whole country," said Cynthia Harris, director of FAMU's Institute of Public Health...Shelley Hearne, executive director for Trust for America's Health, a non-partisan organization working to improve community health, chaired the council's site visit. She said the school far exceeded her expectations. "It was the only time I saw a program get full accreditation right at the get-go. That was a 'wow' in the world of public health," Hearne said. Today's health dangers - from avian flu to chemical weapons - are complex and take critical thinking skills to handle, she said.
